Derrick “Mayday” May is one of the kings of the Detroit techno sound alongside high school mates Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. He released as Mayday and Rhythim Is Rhythim on his own Transmat Records label, but it was the killer sound of Strings Of Life that brought Detroit techno and eventually acid house to European clubbers. He cut trax for System 7’s debut album, & Network released Innovator: Soundtrack For The Tenth Planet. He’s credited with the finest remix ever - Sueno Latino’s Sueno Latino!
